Reading - Students are learning about the following reading strategies 1.Comprehension strategies -check for understanding, backup and re-read, stop and ask who, what, use prior knowledge to connect with text, predict what will happen next, make a mental movie in your mind, summarize events, 5 finger re-tell 2.Accuracy -does it look right, sound right, does it make sense, chunk the word - look at parts, flip the sounds, skip the word and look for clues, re-read words - make your words flow 3.Fluency - read with expression, pay attention to punctuation, read dialogue like the character 4.Expanded Vocabulary -tune into interesting words, use a glossary to find meaning, use illustrations to find meaning, use context clues to figure out meaning
